Description

Commentaria V perpetua in Platonem contains Ficino’s commentaries of Plato’s dialogues, including the Compendium on the Timaeus. Ficino is author of an extensive work of translation and commentary on the work of Plato and made this heritage accessible to European culture. Ficino’s approach as a commentator is rooted in the Neoplatonic tradition but also to be framed in the broader perspective of the pia philosophia (“religious philosophy”), in which Plato, the Pythagoreans and the Neoplatonists, Zoroaster, Moses, Hermes Trismegistus and Christianity come to be intertwined together.
